Bon tricot!

When the diagram is finished, continue the same way, i.e. increase inside 3 edge stitches in one side of shawl as follows: * increase on every other row 3 times, on every 4th row 1 time *, work from *-* Does this mean increase 3 times on one row, purl, then increase three times on next row. Then on 4th row (purl) you increase once as well?
02.01.2025 - 05:33DROPS Design answered:
Hi Rachel, You always increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over inside the 3 edge stitches, on the same side of the shawl as when you were working diagram A.1. Repeat this increase every 2nd row three times (6 rows worked), then every 4th row once (4 rows worked). Hope this helps and Happy New Year!

Pozdrawiamy!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. I-CORD: It is important that the I-cord stitches are not too loose or too tight, check along the way to make sure the edges are not too tight and that they are even. Work as follows: FIRST 3 STITCHES: Work as follows on every row: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece. LAST 3 STITCHES: Work as follows on every row: Work until 3 stitches remain on needle, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked back and forth on circular needle, side to side. SHAWL: Cast on 8 stitches on circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 with DROPS Air. ROW 1 (= right side): Work 3 edge stitches in I-CORD - read explanation above, work 2 stitches in stockinette stitch, finish with 3 edge stitches in I-CORD. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 3 edge stitches as before, 2 stitches in stockinette stitch and 3 edge stitches as before. Continue with 3 edge stitches in I-CORD in each side while at the same time working and increasing as shown in A.1 over stitches in stockinette stitch. When the diagram is finished, continue the same way, i.e. increase inside 3 edge stitches in one side of shawl as follows: * increase on every other row 3 times, on every 4th row 1 time *, work from *-*. There are still 3 edge stitches in each side of piece and there will be more and more stitches in stockinette stitch in the middle of piece. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Work until piece measures approx. 87 cm = 34¼" from cast-on edge, there are approx. 84 stitches on needle. Now work as before without increases for 2 cm = ¾" = approx. 89 cm = 35". Work as before but now decrease inside 3 edge stitches in the same side as previous increases. Decrease as shown in A.2, i.e. decrease as follows: * decrease on every other row 3 times, on every 4th row 1 time *, work from *-*. There are still 3 edge stitches in each side of piece and there will be fewer and fewer stitches in stockinette stitch in the middle of piece. Work like this until 8 stitches remain on needle. Work 2 rows as before (without decrease), and bind off the last 8 stitches on next row. Piece measures approx. 176 cm = 69⅜". |
