Groet Lot

I’m confused about the increases at the sides in the body. increase 1 stitch on each side of the 2 (marked) knitted stitches – Do I increase on each side of the marker or before and after the knitted stitch beside the marker? Either way this will lead lead to break in the 4-2 ribbing pattern on either side. Is this correct?
12.05.2024 - 11:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Charity, you should increase on each side of the two knitted stitches. The increased stitches should be purled, and yes, any increase/decrease will break the ribbing pattern, but they are necessary to shape the garnment. Happy Knitting!

Dear Mei, the outermost 2 stitches means the first two stitches and the last two stitches in the row. Happy Knitting!

Dear Sarah, in size S and M, yoke is done = same measurements; but in larger sizes, you will have to continue working, see last paragraph called SIZES L-XL-XXL-XXXL:. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- TOP – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, bottom up. BODY: Cast on 144-156-180-204-240-252 stitches with circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and DROPS Belle. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 4). Insert 1 marker between 2 knitted stitches in each side and allow them to follow your work onwards = 72-78-90-102-120-126 stitches between the markers. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 6 cm = 2⅜", increase 1 stitch on each side of the 2 (marked) knitted stitches – the increased stitches are purled. Increase like this every 5-5-6-6-7-7 cm = 2"-2"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾" a total of 4 times = 160-172-196-220-256-268 stitches. When the piece measures 26-27-28-29-30-31 cm = 10¼"-10⅝"-11"-11⅜"-11¾"-12¼", bind off 6-6-6-10-10-10 stitches on each side for the armholes (= 2-2-2-4-4-4 purled, 2 knitted (with the marker) and 2-2-2-4-4-4 purled stitches). Place the last 74-80-92-100-118-124 stitches on 1 thread for the back piece. FRONT PIECE: = 74-80-92-100-118-124 stitches. Work 2-2-2-4-4-4 rows of rib back and forth, with the 2 outermost stitches on each side worked in GARTER STITCH - read description above. Place the stitches on a thread. BACK PIECE: Place the 74-80-92-100-118-124 stitches from the back piece on circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work in the same way as the front piece. Now join the pieces for the yoke as follows: YOKE: Work rib over the back piece, loosely cast on 44-44-50-50-56-56 stitches for the first sleeve, place the stitches from the front piece on the needle and work rib over these stitches, loosely cast on 44-44-50-50-56-56 stitches for the second sleeve = 236-248-284-300-348-360 stitches. The piece is now measured from here! READ THE NEXT SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Continue the rib (knit 2, purl 4) – making sure the rib matches the body. SIZES S-M-L: AT THE SAME TIME on round 1 decrease 2 stitches evenly spaced over the 6 stitches at the beginning and end of both the front and back piece (8 stitches decreased) = 228-240-276-300-348-360 stitches. ALL SIZES: Continue the rib (knit 2, purl 4). When the piece measures 4 cm = 1½", decrease every other purl-4 to purl-3 = 209-220-253-275-319-330 stitches. Continue the new rib. When the piece measures 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"-2¾", decrease the remaining purl-4 to purl-3 = 190-200-230-250-290-300 stitches. Continue the new rib (knit 2, purl 3). When the yoke measures 8-9-9-9-10-10 cm = 3⅛"-3½"-3½"-3½"-4"-4", decrease all purl-3 to purl-2 = 152-160-184-200-232-240 stitches. Continue the new rib (knit 2, purl 2) until the yoke measures 10-11-10-11-12-13 cm = 4"-4⅜"-4"-4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛". Sizes S and M are finished. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. SIZES L-XL-XXL-XXXL: When the piece measures 10-11-12-13 cm = 4"-4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛", decrease every other purl-2 to purl-1 = 161-175-203-210 stitches. Continue this new rib. When the piece measures 12-13-14-15 cm = 4¾"-5⅛"-5½"-6", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Cut and fasten the strand. |
