Hei.

Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; knit 1 round and purl 1 round. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 76 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 24) = 3.2. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 3rd stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. RAGLAN: Increase to raglan on each side of the 4 marker threads as follows: Start 1 stitch before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round knit the yarn overs to leave holes. There are a total of 8 stitches increased on each increase-round. STRIPES ON BODY: When the piece measures 2 cm = ¾" after dividing for the armholes, change to heather. Work with heather for 22 cm = 8¾", then finish the piece using purple haze. INCREASE TIP-2 (for sides of body): Start 1 stitch before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. The next time you increase work as follows: Start 2 stitches before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread sits between these 4 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted. Continue to increase like this; i.e. start 1 more stitch before the marker thread each time you increase. STRIPES ON SLEEVES: When the sleeve measures 5-5-5-6-6-6 cm = 2"-2"-2"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜" from the division, change to heather. Work with heather for 22 cm = 8¾", then finish the sleeve using purple haze. DECREASE TIP (mid under sleeve): Start 3 stitches before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off; the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE:- ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked in the round with circular needle, top down. Stiches are increased to raglan. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles, top down. YOKE: Cast on 76-80-84-88-92-96 stitches with circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and wheat. Work 2 RIDGES – read description above. Change to circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 and knit 1 round where you increase 24-28-28-32-36-40 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP-1 = 100-108-112-120-128-136 stitches. Knit 1 round; the yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes. Place a marker on the beginning of the round = middle of back piece. Insert 4 marker threads (without working the stitches) as follows: Count 19-21-22-23-25-27 stitches and place marker thread 1 here (= half back piece), count 12-12-12-14-14-14 stitches (= sleeve) and insert marker thread 2 here, count 38-42-44-46-50-54 stitches (= front piece) and insert marker thread 3 here. Count 12-12-12-14-14-14 stitches (= sleeve) and insert marker thread 4 here. There are 19-21-22-23-25-27 stitches left to marker thread 1 (= half back piece). On the next round start to increase to RAGLAN – read description above (= 8 stitches increased). Increase like this every 2nd round a total of 16-18-20-22-23-24 times. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! After the last increase to raglan there are 228-252-272-296-312-328 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 19-21-23-24-26-28 cm = 7½"-8¼"-9"-9½"-10¼"-11" from the cast-on edge, mid-front. Knit as follows from the beginning of the round: Knit 35-39-42-45-49-52 stitches (= half back piece), place the next 44-48-52-58-58-60 stitches on a thread for the sleeve without working them, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve), knit 70-78-84-90-98-104 (= front piece), place the next 44-48-52-58-58-60 stitches on a thread for the sleeve without working them, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve) and knit the last 35-39-42-45-49-52 stitches (= half back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 152-168-184-196-216-232 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the new stitches on each side = 76-84-92-98-108-116 stitches between the marker threads. Read STRIPES ON BODY and continue in the round with stockinette stitch. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛" from the division in all sizes, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads – read INCREASE TIP-2 (= 4 stitches increased). Increase like this every 6-6-7-7-7-7 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"-2¾"-2¾" a total of 7-7-6-6-6-6 times on each side of the body = 180-196-208-220-240-256 stitches. Work until the piece measures 42-42-42-43-43-43 cm = 16½"-16½"-16½"-17"-17"-17" from the division in all sizes – there is approx. 1 cm = ⅜" left to finished length. Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and work 2 ridges. Bind off with knit, making sure the bind-off edge is not tight - read BINDING-OFF TIP. The sweater measures approx. 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm = 26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-29½" from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 44-48-52-58-58-60 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles/short circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 50-54-60-66-68-72 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Read STRIPES ON SLEEVES and work stockinette stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 3-2-2-3-3-2 cm = 1⅛"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-¾" from the division, decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread – read DECREASE TIP (= 2 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 4½-3½-2½-2-2-2 cm = 1⅝"-1¼"-1"-¾"-¾"-¾" a total of 8-10-13-14-14-15 times = 34-36-36-38-40-42 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 37-36-34-34-33-31 cm = 14½"-14¼"-13⅜"-13⅜"-13"-12¼" (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke) or work to desired length; there is approx. 3 cm = 1⅛" left to finished length. Knit 1 round where you increase 6-4-4-6-4-6 stitches evenly spaced = 40-40-40-44-44-48 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 5 MM = US 8 and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember BINDING-OFF TIP! The sleeve measures approx. 40-39-37-37-36-34 cm = 15¾"-15¼"-14½"-14½"-14¼"-13⅜" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
