16.01.2024 - 06:33DROPS Design answered:
Liebe Frau Pasch, also ja, Big Delight war Garngruppe C, so am besten benutzen Sie 2 Fäden Garngruppe A, z.B. 2 Fäden Fabel oder 1 Faden Fabel + 1 Faden vom einem anderen Garn der Garngruppe A. Benutzen Sie unseren Garnumrechner um die Alternative sowie die neue Garnmenge zu sehen. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

The English translation of Row 13 drove me crazy! It's incorrect! I looked at the French version to try to understand what was meant by "decrease 1 stitch inside the 1 stitch on each side" - What is meant is this (thank you, French translator!) "when you get to 3 stitches before the end of the row, knit 2 together & knit 1 (as in row 9) Simple!

Così facendo a me rimangono 12 maglie sul ferro. Lì invece dice che rimangono 11m (2 aum. e 2 dim.). Dov'è l'altra diminuzione? Grazie

Buon lavoro!

Row 13.......... Please can you explain what you mean by “decrease one stitch on inside of one stitch on each side” I understand the increase stitch but not decrease. Thanks Janette
25.05.2020 - 20:20DROPS Design answered:
Dear Janette, decrease means you have to knit two stitches together, thus decreasing the number of stitches. This should be done after the first stitch and before the last stitch of the row. Happy Knitting!

Buongiorno spett .

Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle, to give you room for all the stitches. It is worked from the one side to the middle. At the middle, half the stitches are bind off, and the shawl is worked from here while decreasing in the sides. SHAWL: Cast on 3 stitches with circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and Big Delight. Knit 1 row. Then work GARTER STITCH – read description above while increasing and decreasing as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), 1 yarn over and knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit = 5 stitches on the needle. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit 2, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), 1 yarn over and knit 2 = 7 stitches on the needle. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 5 (= right side): Knit 1, knit 2 together, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1 = 7 stitches on the needle. ROW 6 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 7 (= right side): Knit as far as the mid-stitch, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), 1 yarn over and knit to end of row. You have increased 2 stitches and there are 9 stitches on the needle. ROW 8 (= wrong side): knit. ROW 9 (= right side): Knit 1, knit 2 together, knit as far as the mid-stitch, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= mid-stitch), 1 yarn over, knit until there are 3 stitches left on the row. Knit 2 together and knit 1. You have increased 2 stitches and decreased 2 stitches, so there are still 9 stitches on the needle. ROW 10 (wrong side): Knit. Continue like this; i.e. as follows: ROW 11 (= right side): Knit and increase 1 stitch on each side of the mid-stitch (= 2 stitches increased). ROW 12 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 13 (= right side): Knit and increase 1 stitch on each side of the mid-stitch knit 2 stitches together inside 1 stitch in each side (= 2 stitches increased and 2 stitches decreased). ROW 14 (= wrong side): Knit. Repeat ROWS 11-14 until the piece measures approx. 60 cm = 23⅝" in width – see the stars on the sketch. Insert a marker in the mid-stitch; this will be used to measure from. ROW 15 (= right side): Knit. ROW 16 (= wrong side): Bind off all of the stitches towards the mid-stitch (do not bind off the middle stitch), and knit the remaining stitches on needle. Then increase and decrease over the remaining stitches as follows: ROW 17 (= right side): Knit 1, knit 2 together. Work until there are 3 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together and knit 1 (= 2 stitches decreased). ROW 18 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 19 (= right side): Knit. ROW 20 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 21 (= right side): Knit. ROW 22 (= wrong side): Knit 1, knit 2 together. Work until there are 3 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together and knit 1 (= 2 stitches decreased). ROW 23 (= right side): Knit. ROW 24 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 25 (= right side): Knit. ROW 26 (= wrong side): Knit. Repeat ROWS 17-26 until there are only 6 stitches left on the needle and you have worked 2 ridges (= 4 rows) after the last decrease. Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 3 stitches. Work 1 ridge (= 2 rows) and bind off with knit on the next row. Cut and fasten the strand. The piece should measure approx. 96 cm = 37¾" from the marker. |
