Back piece- looking at this pattern it looks like it buttons up in the front. So it looks to me like a normal sweater. But when I put the stitches on the circular needle and start knitting and following the directions it's all one piece and it's really small how could that possibly be the back? Is there any instructional videos on how to do the back piece of this pattern? I am not the world's most gifted Knitter and I need help
06.01.2020 - 15:53DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Morrison, did you check your tension? You should have 11 sts x 15 rows in stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm - this should then give you the measurements shown in chart. Happy knitting!

I am knitting this sweater, but I am having difficulty following some of the instructions. The sleeve has a knitted point for the elbow, but the edging under the arm will not be high enough if I follow the instructions . can you please clarify for me?
19.08.2016 - 05:03DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mednick Nepom, First inc mid under sleeve is worked when sleeve measure 26-28 cm (see size) and repeat them every 4-1.5 cm - all inc should be worked when you cast off the sts mid under sleeve for sleeve cap. Happy knitting!

I have a student that is interested in making this jacket, but the suggested yarn is discontinued and it is confusing as to the yardage/grams that are actually needed, along with the actual weight if the yarn and whether it is a bulky or super bulky weight. Also, the reviews on raverly are not the best. Should we just pick another pattern?
22.01.2015 - 01:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Marla, DROPS Ice was group E - you can use any other yarn from group E - click to calculate amount of alternative yarn and remember your DROPS store can give you tips & advices - you can ask them either per mail or telephone. Happy knitting!

Merci
17.12.2013 - 13:10DROPS Design answered:

Bon tricot!

AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 24-26-27-22-25-27 cm / 9½"-10¼"-10⅝"-8¾"-9¾"-10⅝" make BUTTONHOLES – see above. Bind off when piece measures 71-74-77-80-83-85 cm / 28"-29⅛"-30⅜"-31½"-32¾"-33½". LEFT FRONT PIECE: Like right front piece, but mirrored. NOTE! Make 1 buttonhole as described for right front piece when piece measures 56-58-59-62-65-67 cm / 22"-22¾"-23¼"-24⅜"-25½"-26⅜". SLEEVE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 36-36-38-38-40-40 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm / US 11 with Ice. Work 2 rounds stockinette st and then 4 rounds GARTER ST – see above. Continue in seed st until piece measures 18 cm / 7" and then complete piece in stockinette st. After the seed st insert 3 markers in piece as follows: marker-1 at beg of round, marker-2 after 12-12-13-13-14-14 sts and marker-3 after 24-24-25-25-26-26 sts. Now dec 1 st to the right of all markers (= 3 dec) – see DECREASING TIP! Repeat the dec when piece measures 24-24-25-25-26-26 cm / 9½"-9½"-9¾"-9¾"-10¼"-10¼" = 30-30-32-32-34-34 sts. When piece measures 48-48-48-46-45-43 cm / 19"-19"-19"-18"-17¾"-17" (less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder) bind off 6 sts mid under sleeve (= 3 sts each side of marker-1) and complete piece back and forth on needle. Bind off to shape the sleeve cap each side at beg of every row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 0-1-1-3-4-6 times, then 2 sts each side until piece measures 54-55-56-56-57-57 cm / 21¼"-21⅝"-22"-22"-22½"-22½", now bind off 3 sts each side 1 time and bind off remaining sts. Piece measures approx 56-57-58-58-59-59 cm / 22"-22½"-22¾"-22¾"-23¼"-23¼". ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew side seams inside 1 edge st. Sew buttons on left front piece. Also sew 1 button on the inside of right front piece – make sure st doesn’t show on RS. HOOD: Pick up 45-51-53-53-53-53 sts round neck (includes sts on stitch holders) on circular needle size 8 mm / US 11 with Ice. Work st each side in double thread throughout (use an extra ball for this). Work 6 rows garter st back and forth on needle, AT THE SAME TIME on last row dec 16-22-22-22-20-20 sts evenly on sts along back piece and sides of front pieces (NOTE! Do not dec on front band sts following on from front pieces) = 29-29-31-31-33-33 sts. Continue in SEED ST. When piece measures 47-47-48-48-49-49 cm / 18½"-18½"-19"-19"-19¼"-19¼" work 2 rows garter st on all sts and bind off. Fold hood double and sew tog at the top from RS. |
