Hi! Approximately how many metres does one set use?

Dear JessieG, depending on the size you will need either 1 or 2 balls DROPS Fabel in color black + 1 ball in color rose mist - read more about DROPS Fabel here and find where you can get it in/into Canada here. Happy knitting!

19.08.2015 - 15:49DROPS Design answered:

PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. Work entire pattern in stockinette st. HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): K until 9 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): P until 9 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): K until 8 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): P until 8 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 15 sts on needle. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 72 sts in all sizes on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1.5 with black. K 1 round, then work rib = K 1/P 1 for 10 rounds. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm / US 2.5 and work pattern in the round according to diagram A.1 (= 6 repetitions on round). REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE When A.1 has been worked, K 1 round with black while dec 8-0-0 sts evenly = 64-72-72 sts. Work pattern in the round according to diagram A.2 (= 8-9-9 repetitions on round). When A.2 has been worked, K 1 round with black while dec 0-4-2 sts evenly = 64-68-70 sts. Work next round as follows: Work A.3 (= 3 sts), A.4 (= 23-27-29 sts), A.3 (= 3 sts) and A.5 (= 35 sts). Continue the pattern like this - NOTE: Dec at the back of sock as shown in diagram A.5. When A.5 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 60-64-66 sts on needle. Slip the first 29-33-35 sts on 1 stitch holder (i.e. sts over A.3 + A.4 + A.3 = mid on top of foot) = 31 sts remain on needle in all sizes for heel. Work A.6 over heel sts for 5-5½-6 cm / 2''-2 1/4''-2½'', insert 1 marker. Then work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above (continue A.6). After heel dec, pick up 12-13-14 sts along each side of heel with black and slip the 29-33-35 sts from stitch holder at the top of foot back on needle = 68-74-78 sts. Continue the 29-33-35 sts on top of foot in pattern as before, work the other sts in A.6 (= under foot). AT THE SAME TIME dec on each side of the 29-33-35 sts on top of foot as follows: K the 2 sts before the 29-33-35 sts on top of foot tog with black and K the 2 sts after the 29-33-35 sts on top of foot twisted tog with black (= 2 sts dec). Repeat dec every other round 6 times in total in all sizes = 56-62-66 sts. Work pattern until piece measures 18-19-22 cm / 7"-7½"-8 3/4" from marker on heel (approx. 4-5-5 cm / 1½"-2"-2" remain until finished measurements). Then work as follows: Work A.3 as before over the 3 sts in each side and A.6 over sts both on top and under foot. AT THE SAME TIME dec for toe on each side of A.3 in each side as follows: Work until 2 sts remain before A.3, K 2 tog (with the color in the current stripe), work A.3, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1 (with the color in the current stripe), psso (= 4 sts dec). Repeat dec in each side every other round a total of 4-7-7 times and then every round a total of 5-3-3 times = 20-22-26 sts remain on needle. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2 with black = 10-11-13 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Knit another sock. |
